The “Nonprofit Thought Leader Reception” hosted by City & State and government relations firm Kasirer drew 115 attendees representing more than 40 nonprofits to S Bar in Hudson Yards.

Kasirer is the No. 1 lobbying firm in New York City. They have helped bring some of the city’s most prominent projects to fruition, including One Vanderbilt, the Delta terminals at JFK and LaGuardia airports, the New York Blood Center, Brookfield Place and Manhattan West, the Plaza Hotel, and the $2 billion Innovation QNS project, to name just a few over the past two decades.

The biggest lesson here is that City Hall under Mayor Adams and the Council under Speaker Adrienne Adams are decisively rejecting the practice of letting local members treat their districts as their fiefdoms and kill projects based on arbitrary ultimatums. Indeed, a key subcommittee gave Innovation QNS a unanimous thumbs-up last week even as Won remained on the fence.

The Innovation Queens project will, after weeks of contentious negotiations, include 1,400 affordable units out of more than 3,000 new homes.
