Dev Awasthi: vice president, corporate & legislationDev Awasthi is Vice President on Kasirer’s Corporate & Legislation team. In this role Dev advises and supports corporate clients on budgetary, legislative, and other regulatory matters.

Dev holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Connecticut School of Law, with concentrations in Law & Public Policy, Regulatory Compliance, and Energy and Environmental Law. While in law school, Dev worked at the New York State Attorney General’s Office and most recently at the Connecticut Attorney General’s Office. At these offices, he conducted legal research and writing on a variety of issues at both the state and federal levels.

Prior to pursuing his Juris Doctorate, Dev served as the Deputy Chief of Staff to New York City Council Member Barry S. Grodenchik. He oversaw the Council Member’s policy and budget priorities, including coordinating the legislative agenda and funding allocations. Most notably, he helped shape and advance City budget advocacy campaigns to secure millions of dollars of investments towards emergency food resources and parks.

Dev has also served his community in various levels of government and political roles across New York, including in his position as citywide liaison to South Asian communities for New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer, and working for the New York State Democratic Party.

Dev graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science.
