Governor’s Update
During a conference call with reporters, the Governor announced,
- Bowling alleys will be allowed to open on August 17 with 50% occupancy requirements.
- Indoor cultural activities, including museums and aquariums, will be allowed to reopen on August 24 in New York City with 25% maximum occupancy requirements.
- The Governor will be releasing reopening protocols for gymnasiums on August 17.

During the Mayor’s press conference he announced,
- Every single public school building will have a certified nurse.
- A new Project Labor Agreement with the City’s Building Trades Council.
- His call on New York State to pass community hiring legislation.
- 10,000 Minority and Women-Owned Businesses have been certified in New York City.

During the Mayor’s press conference he announced,
- The City is seeing an uptick in cases in Sunset Park identified through hyperlocal testing; the City will be conducting outreach to all residents, expanding testing capacity, and providing resources.

Mayoral Update
During the Mayor’s press conference he announced,
- The launch of the first ever tenant protection portal, which is a free one-stop-shop portal that provides access to free legal services, tenant support services, and additional information and resources for tenants.
- The City is going to bring back the commercial lease assistance program, which will restore $1.5M funding for free legal services to businesses.
- 30 of the City’s largest employers have created the New York Jobs CEO Council, which aims to hire 100,000 low-income New Yorkers by 2030; 25,000 of them will be CUNY students.

During a conference call with reporters the Governor announced,
- His threats to revoke Con Edison’s franchise given their response to power outages caused by Tropical Storm Isaias.
Mayoral Update
During the Mayor’s press conference he announced,
- That the feedback DOE received from parents and teachers suggests that 74% of students (700,000) and about 85% of teachers are expected to return to school buildings under the planned hybrid (or blended learning model) of instruction.

- All schools across New York State can open for the upcoming academic year as they are all in accord with the State’s health metrics and requirements.
Mayoral Update
During the Mayor’s press conference he announced,
- His call on the New York State Courts System to extend the eviction moratorium through the end of the crisis.
- His call on the federal government to include tenant rental assistance in the next stimulus bill, and on the State to pass legislation that would allow tenants to set up a rent payment plan with their landlords to prevent further eviction proceedings.

- Census outreach workers will begin door knocking on August 6 to reach those who have not yet responded to the Census.
- His call on the State to design a payment plan model that will allow residents to pay off rent over time.

Mayoral Update
During the Mayor’s press conference he announced,
- The City will implement COVID-19 traveler registration checkpoints on August 5 at key entry points into New York City to enforce New York State quarantine orders.
- The City is partnering with transportation and tourism companies to support education about and enforcement of the 14-day mandatory quarantine.
- A commission on racial justice and reconciliation to formally identify the racist realities in many institutions and agencies.

- The resignation of DOH-MH Commissioner Dr. Oxiris Barbot and the appointment of Dr. Dave Chokshi as Commissioner of DOH-MH.

During the Mayor’s press conference he announced,
- Open Restaurants will return next summer starting June 1, 2021.
- The Mayor’s Fund to Advance NYC has provided 71,000 meals through the Food for Heroes program; the program will continue expanding to staff at non-profit nursing homes, and DSN garages citywide.
