Mayoral Update

During the Mayor’s press conference he announced,

  • Phase 4 industries will resume on Monday, July 20, including low risk outdoor arts and entertainment (such as botanical gardens and zoos), professional sports with no spectators, and media production (movies, music, television production).
  • Indoor dining, mall, and museum reopenings will continue to be delayed as high risk activities.
  • The City’s Open Restaurants program will be extended through October 31; 40 more blocks of new Open Restaurants on Open Streets will launch this weekend.
  • Alternate Side Parking regulations will resume this Monday, July 20th.

Governor’s Update

On a call with reporters the Governor announced,

  • No new indoor activities will reopen in New York City when the City enters Phase 4 of reopening on Monday, July 20.
Mayoral Update

During the Mayor’s press conference he announced,

  • The City will provide safe, quality childcare for 100,000 students by September to complement partial school and daycare reopening, with the goal to increase capacity on a rolling basis as additional space is found.
  • HIs call on the Office of Court Administration to reopen the court system next month to achieve both justice and safety for communities and police officers citywide.

  • ULURPs are set to resume in September; the City Planning Commission will begin holding remote meetings in August.

During the Mayor’s press conference he announced,

  • The Mayor’s Fund has received over 9,000 grassroots donations and raised $54.5 million.

Governor’s Update

During the Governor’s press conference he announced,

  • A formula to determine whether school districts can reopen for the upcoming academic year, which includes:
    • Schools may reopen if the region in which the school district is located is in Phase 4 and the daily infection rate remains 5% or lower, which will be determined using a 14-day average.
    • Schools will close if the regional infection rate is greater than 9%, which will be determined using a 7-day average after August 1st.
    • Determinations on school reopenings will be made during the week of August 1st.
  • The Department of Health will issue an emergency order mandating that out-of-state travelers from designated states will have to provide local authorities with contact information upon entering New York to help enforce quarantining.
Mayoral Update

During the Mayor’s press conference he announced,

  • New indoor face covering guidance, in which the City is recommending that New Yorkers should wear a face covering as much as possible around other people while in an indoor setting, regardless of how much space is kept between individuals.
  • Ten new testing sites in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens.
