Governor’s Update
During the Governor’s press conference he announced,
- His calls for a federal reform agenda to address inequality issues, including:
- Education equity
- Child poverty
- Affordable housing
Mayoral Update
During the Mayor’s press conference, he announced,
- New York City’s curfew will end on June 7.
- The City’s immediate next steps of reform:
- Shift funding from NYPD to youth and social services.
- Advocate to Albany to reform 50-A.
- Move vendor enforcement out of the NYPD.
- Bring community voices to the senior level of the NYPD.
Governor’s Update
During the Governor’s press conference he announced,
- Temples/mosques/churches can open with 25% occupancy in Phase 2.
- The MTA will be deploying over 1 million masks and 25,000 gallons and 500,000 2-ounce bottles of sanitizer for reopening.
- An Executive Order to allow commercial buildings to conduct temperature checks of anyone entering the building
Governor’s Update
During the Governor’s press conference he announced,
- His calls to the legislature to adopt the “Say Their Name” Reform Agenda, which calls for:
- Transparency of prior disciplinary records
- No chokeholds
- Any false race-based 911 report to be considered a hate crime
- Attorney General to be designated as an independent prosecutor for murders by police
- By June 7 he will make a decision on whether to extend the voting period for school budget and board elections.
Mayoral Update
During the Mayor’s press conference he announced,
- New mobile COVID-19 testing sites in Soundview and in Kew Gardens
- New “Centers of Excellence,” which will serve as community clinics in hard-hit communities of color; plans to open in September 2020 in Elmhurst, Tremont, and Bushwick/Bed-Stuy.
- Updates on Phase 1 of reopening:
- 32,000 construction sites eligible to restart work
- DOB will be sweeping permitted sites to ensure restart safety requirements.
- First 30 days, DOB will focus on education and non-monetary orders to ensure compliance.
- After 30 days, inspectors will begin issuing violations to enforce non-compliance.
- Enforcement includes a stop work order with a $5,000 penalty and a $10,000 penalty for subsequent non-compliance.

Governor’s Update
During the Governor’s press conference he announced,
- The NYS Department of Financial Services is directing insurers to expedite claims for businesses that were looted, to provide free mediation of disputes, and to accept photos as reasonable proof of loss so businesses don’t have to wait for police reports.
- Phase 2 of reopening will include outdoor dining.
- Westchester, Rockland, and Hudson Valley are expected to enter Phase 2 on June 9; Long Island on June 10.
Mayoral Update
During the Mayor’s press conference he announced,
- NYC Mayor’s Fund has secured $500,000 in initial funds from SOMOS Community Care to support small businesses in the Bronx.
- Grants of up to $10,000 per business will be allocated to help with recovery, including repairs, security systems, locks, and more.
- The City will also be providing small businesses impacted from looting or vandalism access to direct NYPD engagement, emergency legal assistance and insurance claim support.

- His criticism of President Trump for threatening to invoke the Insurrection Act.
Mayoral Update
During the Mayor’s press conference he announced,
- HIs vision for the MTA’s reopening ahead of Phase 1, including:
- Increased rush-hour service for Phase 1
- Hand sanitizer in stations
- Mandatory and available face coverings
- Capacity limits on subway cars and buses and in stations during Phase 1
- Clear and abundant social distance markers in all stations, subway cars, and buses
- Testing criteria has been expanded to include all New Yorkers and urged everyone to seek a free COVID-19 test at one of the City’s 150 testing sites.
Agency Update – HPD
Opposition to Mayor de Blasio’s proposed cuts to HPD’s capital budget is growing.

Governor’s Update
During the Governor’s press conference he announced,
- The State has offered all Mayors support during this time and has mobilized the State Police and placed 13,000 members of the National Guard on standby.
State Agency Update – MTA
Resources provided by the MTA to help businesses navigate Phase 1.
- The regional employer registration here. Businesses can sign up to receive up to date information, and allows the MTA to hear directly from businesses about how the MTA can best serve their employees’ and riders’ needs.

- The link here has all of the information on how to sign up for the MTA’s overnight essential connector service. The MTA is asking riders to sign up for this service so the MTA can determine how to best serve commuters’ overnight travel needs and evaluate if commuters are eligible for a one way for-hire ride overnight.
Mayoral Update
During the Mayor’s press conference he announced,
- New York City’s citywide curfew will be from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM through June 7.
- His calls on civic leaders to engage their communities, condemn violence, and help the City “turn the page” on this painful moment in the City’s history.
City Council Update
City Council will be scheduling a June 25 Stated Meeting and it is likely that they will be voting on the FY21 Budget.
Governor’s Update
During the Governor’s press conference he announced,
- Western New York is expected to move into Phase 2 on June 2; Capital Region will move into Phase 2 on June 3.
- His concerns that mass gatherings of protestors could delay New York City’s reopening.
State Agency Update – Empire State Development (ESD)
Empire State Development (ESD) released updated guidance regarding essential construction.
- All non-essential construction will be limited to only staging.
- Department of Building (DOB) permits for work other than staging remain on hold.

- The videos showing NYPD officers using disproportionate force against protesters are being investigated by NYPD, Corporation Counsel, and Department of Investigation.
- His calls to the State legislature to immediately repeal 50-a to make NYPD disciplinary processes more transparent.
City Council Update
Council Members Lander, Gibson, and Cornegy Jr. opposed cuts to HPD’s capital budget.
- Lander, Gibson, Cornegy, and affordable housing organizations held a press conference opposing the Mayor’s proposed cuts.
