Sophia Fernandez: associate, corporate & legislationAs an Associate on Kasirer’s Corporate & Legislation team, Sophia assists a wide array of private sector clients with the development and execution of government relations strategies, as well as advancing or pushing back against legislation.

Sophia’s career with Kasirer began as a Government Relations Intern on the Real Estate team, where she then transitioned to the Lead Government Relations Intern on the Corporate and Legislation team, gaining valuable experience over the course of six months. During her internship, she contributed to various teams, primarily focusing on Corporate and Legislation. Sophia served as the point person for the intern cohort, prepared meeting briefs, and covered press conferences and City Council hearings. Specifically, Sophia worked on City Council Stated Meetings, which included the voting on and introduction of various pieces of legislation relevant to the firm.

Prior to joining Kasirer, Sophia worked as a legal intern at the Brooklyn Kings County Family Court, where she frequently attended in-court proceedings. She also worked as a Teacher’s Assistant at Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business, where she offered her expertise in writing and research to students.

Sophia graduated summa cum laude from Fordham University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and English, as a double major. While attending Fordham University, Sophia held a variety of leadership roles, most prominently those held in the student government organization known as the Commuting Students Association, which focused on the needs of commuter students from each NYC borough and beyond.
