Varun Sanyal: vice president real estateVarun advises real estate clients on public approval processes, land use strategies, and economic development. He has close to a decade of political and government experience.

Most recently, Varun Sanyal was Vice President of Economic Development at the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. He oversaw all economic development initiatives including Industrial & Manufacturing efforts (Brooklyn-Made Certification, Export Documentation Assistance, Global Trade Missions), Research & Studies (Annual Brooklyn Economic Assessment & Comprehensive Economic Development Strategies), Neighborhood Development (BID Formation, Merchant Organizing), and Policy (Legislative Affairs, Government Affairs).

Previously, Varun was a Project Manager at the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation, where he was responsible for the planning, coordination, management, and implementation of real estate planning and development programs across the borough. Varun started his career at the New York City Council from 2011-2013 as the Legislative and Land Use Analyst for the Assistant Deputy Majority Leader.

Varun earned a BA in Geography and Urban Studies from Temple University and a master’s degree in Urban Planning from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service. He has obtained prestigious fellowships such as New Leaders Council – NY Chapter, Coro NY Leadership, and was named a 2017 City & State NYC Rising Star. Varun sits on the ABNY Young Professionals Steering Committee and the Board of Directors of Hope Community, Inc.
