Susan Pollock: chief content and strategy officerAs chief content and strategy officer, Susan oversees and manages new business development, communications, and content generation firmwide, supporting all the firm’s teams and the flow of information from associate research to client briefs to strategic plans.

Susan joined Kasirer from Ascend Public Charter Schools – a network of fifteen high performing liberal arts schools in Central Brooklyn – where she served as president and acting CEO. At Ascend, Susan led communications, development, real estate, external affairs including board management and authorizer relations, and Ascend’s strategic work. In her years at Ascend, Ascend’s 5,500 students reversed the achievement gap on Common Core assessments, and the network opened nine new facilities, was awarded five new charters, and raised over $13 million in public and private grants.

Prior to joining Ascend, Susan was senior vice president, large scale projects, at CPC Resources (CPCR), the development arm of the Community Preservation Corporation (CPC). In her two decades at CPC and CPCR, she held positions in both the lending and development organizations, overseeing the financing and redevelopment of thousands of affordable housing units throughout New York City, spearheading a successful program to stabilize the City’s coop market during a period of economic retrenchment, and developing hundreds of units of moderate-income, for-sale housing. As principal project manager of the Domino Sugar Refinery redevelopment, Susan was responsible for the vision and implementation of the master planning, design, and entitlement process leading to a unanimously approved rezoning of the 11.2-acre site to residential and mixed-use.

Susan attended Harvard College, majoring in government; and graduate school in City and Regional Planning at the University of California at Berkeley, concentrating in housing and economic development.
