Jennifer Shafran: vice president, government affairsAs Vice President, Government Affairs, Jennifer works with Kasirer’s clients across a wide spectrum of policy and legislation, including transportation and technology.

Prior to joining Kasirer, Jennifer held an appointment as Downstate Press Secretary for the State Labor Department under the Cuomo administration, where she helped lead their communications team and played an integral role on high-profile policy initiatives such as fast food and low-wage worker economic opportunity reforms.

Jennifer also served as Director of New Media and External Affairs for the New York State Senate Democratic Conference, where she oversaw and managed digital media communications and advocacy campaigns, including the successful effort to pass the historic marriage equality legislation in 2011. Previously, Jennifer managed a diverse policy portfolio for Senator Liz Krueger, which included affordable housing, health policy, infrastructure and transportation projects such as the Second Avenue Subway.

Jennifer is a graduate of Hunter College, where she was awarded a Public Service Scholars Program fellowship. She earned her Juris Doctorate with a concentration in Public Law, Regulation and Government Affairs from Cardozo Law School, during which time she also served in the Social Justice Bureau of the Office of the New York State Attorney General.
