About the Role
Kasirer is seeking to hire an energetic, strategic-minded, tenacious individual to join our growing team. As a Nonprofit Associate, you will support a team of senior public affairs professionals who are committed to advocating for funding and building coalitions and consensus necessary to win support for our clients.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and is enthusiastic about learning and growing in this position. They must be able to prioritize and manage their time while handling multiple projects simultaneously without sacrificing attention to details. Candidate must be able to work collaboratively with the firm’s leadership and staff to promote a respectful and inclusive environment that emphasizes cooperation and teamwork with a minimum of ego. In addition, they must be respectful of the perspectives of others and possess sound judgment. The perfect candidate is a fast learner who possesses excellent verbal and written communications skills, interpersonal skills, and has a strong interest in New York City government and politics. Candidates with experience working and/or interning in the office of an elected official and/or on a political campaign are highly preferred. Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule, which may include attending early morning, evenings, and weekend events.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Outreach to elected officials’ offices
  • Developing professional working relationships with city government officials and staff
  • Attending City Council hearings, and monitoring legislation and public policy issues
  • Researching and writing strategic memos, briefing papers and policy background research memos for clients
  • Attending community meetings and briefing clients on community issues
  • Monitoring NYC current events and news on a daily basis, with a focus on tracking news of relevance to our clients
  • Covering and writing daily readouts for clients of mayoral/gubernatorial pressers on rotation or as needed
  • Crafting messages, talking points and related materials tailored to target audiences
  • Drafting correspondence for senior staff (VPs, EVP and President)

Knowledge and Skills

  • Desire and commitment to working behind-the-scenes and supporting a team. Equally satisfied in achieving goals collaboratively and independently.
  • Extremely strong organizational skills including detail-orientation. Able to organize, prioritize, track and manage workflow/resources.
  • Ability to strategically manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Exceptional ability to distill complicated information into easy-to-understand memos.
  • Proactive about trying to get better at whatever they do; reflect on successes/failures, seek feedback, incorporate feedback immediately to improve, ask for the help or resources they need to be successful, and assume personal responsibility.
  • Understanding of New York City’s political landscape, and a strong interest in learning about city government.

Experience Prerequisites

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 0 to 3 years of professional experience

Salary commensurate with experience.
