Jason Goldman joined Kasirer after more than a decade with the United Federation of Teachers (UFT), most recently as assistant director of legislation and political action. In that capacity, he modernized the union’s get-out-the-vote operation and increased voter turnout, as well as establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders citywide and directing coordinated campaign, budget and legislative activities.
Jason successfully led UFT strategic initiatives to secure more than $50 million in discretionary and capital funding from the NYC Council. He also spearheaded efforts to secure $2 million in public-private partnerships for career and technical education and millions of dollars in capital funding for community learning school initiatives.
He is well-known for his relationships on both sides of the political aisle, which proved key in advancing the union’s legislative agenda at the city, state and federal levels.
Prior to his promotion at the UFT, Jason served as a legislative representative, leading the union’s research and analysis of potential legislation in terms of its impact on membership. He was also the liaison for the union to the city’s larger labor and business communities.
Jason is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany and a native Staten Islander.
