Genevieve Michel: senior vice president, real estateGenevieve Michel advises real estate clients on community relations and how to successfully navigate the City’s approval processes.

She joined Kasirer after five years in the Office of New York City Council Member Daniel R. Garodnick, most recently as Chief of Staff. In that capacity, she supervised a team across the Council Member’s legislative and district offices, led press and communications strategy, and managed the legislative portfolio, among other responsibilities. Genevieve first joined Council Member Garodnick’s staff in 2011 as Community Liaison before being promoted to Deputy Chief of Staff and then Chief of Staff, a role she held for over two years. During her tenure, Genevieve served as point person for a number of important projects including: Vanderbilt Avenue Rezoning & One Vanderbilt, Greater East Midtown Rezoning, the Stuyvesant Town & Peter Cooper Village sale, and the creation of designated activity zones in Times Square. Genevieve also served as liaison on behalf of Council Member Garodnick and his East Side constituents on a variety of real estate-related projects – covering everything from high profile projects to small variances with the Department of Buildings. In addition, she managed Council Member Garodnick’s agenda as Chair of the City Council Committee on Economic Development, working closely with the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) on a variety of projects throughout the city.

Prior to joining Council Member Garodnick’s team, Genevieve worked at The NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate as their Events & Press Associate. Genevieve serves on the Board of Directors of The Riders Alliance. Genevieve is a graduate of New York University, where she earned a BA in Politics & Public Policy.
